A little about me: Ever since I was young, I have been enthralled by the arts. My parents recognized this aesthetic proficiency early on and nurtured it. I have a degree in painting and commercial add photography but before that I studied sculpture, life drawing and mucho mucho music. I’m a firm believer that all life is art and an open perception to your surroundings is the key to viewing your world in this way.

All this being said, what I’m most proud of is my family. My wife, daughter, cat and dog are the light that keeps my passion shining. We are nothing without the ones we love. I cherish this above all else.

hello. I'm griffin.

Davis

Griffin Hart Davis, LLC is a motion and still photography production company dedicated to providing a comprehensive framework for your marketing needs. Below you will read the steps for ensuring a productive path to accomplishing your content goals. All client needs are not the same and every project requires a personal approach. Some of whats in this welcome may apply to your needs and some may not.

IT ALL BEGINS WITH AN IDEA: IMAGINATION FIRST

You have a need for new content. Whether photography or motion, the pre-production process is imperative for a successful outcome. Understanding your goals and designing a clear path will ensure that your initial vision finds its way to the intended destination. The best way to begin our joint venture is for me to carefully listen to your ideas. I aim to understand what you are looking to achieve without imposing my own creative views too soon. During this time, it is important to draw from other successful ads for inspiration. This helps to create a visual that incorporates some of what you are looking to achieve.

From this base, I am able to build a framework of wants and needs. This is where I begin offering my personal and professional advice in order to add to the production value in a cost-effective way. I encourage my clients to heed my advice when it comes to production layout. The moving parts of any production have multiple variables. Aligning these in a way that enhances the end result can make all the difference. These steps should not be rushed and should be well thought out. In many ways, this portion of pre-production is the most important. It will set the tone and ultimately decide the outcome of the production.

CONCEPTUALIZING YOUR FINAL PIECE: MAKING A STORY

At this point your idea is coming to life and we have a rough outline of what we are going to achieve. We call this scripting. Here, we take the ideas we have and add them together in a manner that makes sense visually. This is true for both photography and motion content creation.

For motion productions, I begin by initializing a written script for how we would like the final piece to flow from start to finish. I then provide you with this rough script for approval. Upon your consent, we begin with storyboarding. The storyboard is our first draft of the final piece. It will help us make choices for location, clothing, date and time, camera focal, equipment, talent, and logistics for our production. The storyboard is something that cannot be undervalued. To create the storyboard, I have hand-drawn and -colored storyboards for still and motion work created. The time involved in this process is dependent on the complexity of the script. Not all projects require this level of pre-production.

GETTING IN GEAR: ALMOST READY TO SHOOT

At this point, we have our final idea in place and are expecting great things! This is the time when we deal with logistics as the final preparation for our shoot. At this stage, I will be building the appropriate team and making sure all the necessary camera equipment is available for your production. Other goals might include casting, acquiring permits, etc.

I will also be preparing a production schedule to include call times, equipment needed, and the location of our shoot. This is contingent on our storyboard which we will have discussed prior. The production schedule is a final blueprint we can follow during our shoot. A lot goes on during a shoot so having these logistics in order beforehand allows us to be creative and have fun which is paramount to a successful production.

AND SO IT BEGINS: TIME TO SHOOT

While it is important to be creative and think on your feet, my team and I abide by the production schedule to keep things running smoothly. I assign specific roles for each of my crew to ensure everyone is serving a purpose and has been designated for maximum output. I also bring a sense of optimism and exuberance into a production. I believe that in order to have a creative environment, one must have a positive environment. I find that most people do their best work when they feel encouraged and trusted. It is important that each day our start and end times are respected. A normal working day is 8 hours, but we propose 10 because we understand that our clients are on a budget and sometimes those extra 2 hours can mean the difference in an additional day of shooting. Hence it is imperative that we do not exceed the 10-hour mark. In order to keep a productive team, I need a well-rested team. If the day goes over the 10-hour mark, time and a half will be billed for each party’s day rate specified on the estimate.

IMMEDIATE GRATIFICATION: THE FIRST LOOK

It is important to us that you, the client, get to view and critique the footage on-set. We provide an immediate review in order to ensure quality control and eliminate the need to re-shoot. This will save you both time and money.

Each shot is slated in order to guarantee a faster post-production process. With motion production there is less we can do regarding post-production/editing, so making sure it is right in camera is paramount. With stills, we shoot to a computer in order to make final selects on site. If we are rushed and a final image is not chosen, I provide a same-day gallery for the client to make selects from. We encourage our clients to also make editing requests at this time, so we can make notes of changes needed.

FLEXIBILITY: KEEPING YOU HAPPY

We understand that this project is your investment and you have a lot riding on it. Throughout the shoot, I encourage being upfront if anything is not up to your expectations and we will adjust accordingly. I will also be making suggestions throughout the shoot for ways to increase production value.

POST PRODUCTION: GETTING IT JUST RIGHT

We have successfully finished the shooting of your project so what is next? My company provides a triple backup of your content right away. I utilize my personal drives, a fireproof safe, and a safety deposit box off-site. This is a measure we take to insure that your content is never in jeopardy and always safe.

I take on all the editing in a multitude of applications: Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One, Premier, and After Effects. We use these applications to build your project from the footage or stills produced according to any storyboard or editing requests we have. We provide the stills in any format requested at any size requested including CMYK and RGB at web and print resolutions. We provide a rough draft for our motion work where the client can access a password-protected video to view and make critiques. An editing log is built to guarantee we stick to our agreed-upon editing time. Once a final is approved, the film moves to grading or color and sound engineering if needed. From there, we provide the client with a large and small format needed and a drop box for final delivery.

CONCLUSION

I know this can all seem a bit overwhelming, but I have found that each of these steps helps keep clarity throughout the project and create a fun and productive work environment. My goal is to inform you of my process and to show how seriously I take what I do. There are many levels of production professionals out there. It is important that you look to the future and team up with a company that aims to push the content boundaries of what is possible in an orderly way.

I appreciate your time and hope Griffin Hart Davis, LLC can provide you with the best possible content for your marketing needs.

Thank You.
